Dr. Virginia Schafer is the President of the newly formed Clarksdale Chapter, called the
The Delta Writer’s Association (DWA). The Vice President is the honorable Delma
Furnis, secretary is Brian Nathanial Pitts, treasurer is Helen B Sanders and our PR
expert is Lois McMurchy.
Virginia is a member of the Gulf Coast Writers Association in Biloxi , however after
moving to the Delta, founded the DWA with the help of Lois McMurchy, Executive
Director of the Coahoma County Higher Education Center.
Virginia’s writings are varied and include poetry, fiction and non-fiction. She writes
regularly for health related continuing educational publications and has written a book
on Fibromyalgia. She is currently coordinating an anthology about women of the Delta
called Delta Dames.

book will be out shortly…so we will be looking for
Obsessive Revenge. Helen is working on her third
