Barry McMullan
Meridian Chapter Head, Barry McMullan is a retired geologist and
poet. He portrays William Faulkner with the Guild's event, Honoring
Historic Mississippi Writers.
Next meeting of the Meridian Chapter meets on February 26 at 1:00
o'clock p.m., at The Company of Angels Theatre (St. Paul Episcopal
Church, basement), 22nd Avenue, MerIdian, MS. Each quarter, a
monthly gathering will focus on either: A special speaker, writing
workshop/critique session, or Literary Artists on Stage.
Again, Meridian Chapter welcomes Katherine Horne as its special speaker. Katherine has a Bachelor of Arts from
Mississippi University for Women, with a major in English and minors in French & Spanish. She has 38 hours post
graduate credit in literature classes at Mississippi State University, University of Mississippi, Richmond College, and
Richmond Surrey, England. She dedicated 36 years to being a high school English teacher, principally 12th grade
Advanced Placement; college prep classes. She also taught Composition I and II and Creative Writing at Meridian
Community College. Named 5 times as Mississippi Economic Council's Star Teacher, Katherine has won numerous 1st
place awards for poetry and her poems, short stories, and feature articles, and has been published in many
publications and literary journals, with her later work being published in MISSISSIPPI MAGAZINE, headquartered out of
Jackson, MS. She currently speaks and conducts discussions on books and other literature for various groups,
including college, high school, and staff development sessions.

Highlights of Mr. Young's bio:
Randy Young, the workshop instructor is a published
author/illustrator and publisher.
His work has appeared in Morpheus Tales. His book, Paper
Ribbon Birdhouse Village (published by Plaid Enterprises) is in
its second printing.
He is the former host of a talk radio program in Alabama.
Randy Young is the publisher of high quality books. His
publishing company
Has published illustrated children's books, romance, sci-fi,
non-fiction and fiction for authors. His publishing work with
Sleepytown Press has lead to honors by Lightning Source as an
example of publishing that is used world wide.
